Winging it: Why is the UK training Ukrainian pilots?

With over £9 billion of British taxpayers’ money committed to sustaining the conflict in Ukraine, what part does control of the airspace play in all of this? The UK Government announced, recently, the completion of the elementary phase of fast jet training for ten Ukrainian pilots. Tim Davies, a veteran fast jet pilot, trainer and electronic warfare officer, with 20 years’ experience in the Royal Navy and Royal Air Force, puts this announcement in context.
