2025 leaves behind a heavy legacy — wars, genocide, creeping fascism, and a Europe strained by authoritarianism and division. A decade ago, DiEM25 (and MERA25) warned that this path could lead to disintegration. Sadly, that warning proved prescient.
Yet this is not a message of despair. It is a message of resistance, organisation, and hope.
Even when battles are lost, no just struggle is ever defeated. DiEM25 continues to organise radical progressives across Europe to confront the radical centre, resist fascism wherever it emerges, and reclaim the future from old and new tyrannies, not with empty platitudes, but with competent idealism in action. May 2026 be the year that hope grows stronger.
