The Nimrod Lens – The 3000 Year Old Artefact That Baffled the Experts



In the middle of the nineteenth century an English archaeologist named Austen Henry Layard found a curious piece of clear rock crystal at an Assyrian Palace named Nimrud. After some confusion a theory began to emerge. It suggested that this strange artifact was once part of an ancient telescope. The trouble is, the item, which has since been named the Nimrud lens, predates the advent of telescopes by more than 2000 years. There are pros and cons to the theory. However, it would explain the advanced knowledge of Astronomy, possessed by the ancient Sumerians, Assyrians and Egyptians.
