Most people assume that Southern Mesopotamia was a natural place for the dawn of civilization, with near perfect conditions. But this isn’t so, in fact it was a boggy and marshy place which endured searing heat in summer time. So how did the Sumerians create such a successful culture in the land between two rivers?
