Stuart Talbott: Lightning-Scarred Mars – the Evidence Mounts | Thunderbolts

Several years ago on the planet Mars, NASA’s rover Curiosity discovered something so strange, it forced planetary scientists to begin rewriting Martian history—a process that continues today.

The anomaly was found in the 150 kilometer-wide Gale Crater. At the center is Mount Sharp, a central 18,000 foot peak. In the layered minerals in this terrain, Curiosity discovered tridymite, an extremely rare mineral which only forms at superhot temperatures.

Independent researcher, Stuart Talbott, also describes perchlorate, another type of mineral found 10,000 times more abundant on Mars than sands or soils. Lightning strikes can produce perchlorate in the presence of chloride. Evidence indeed.
