03/13/2022 Weekly update #1.
This past week was buzzing with activity at Boca Chica, Starbase and Port Canaveral, Florida.
Starship 20 cryogenic testing showed us a dual fill of liquid oxygen in the LOX tank and liquid nitrogen in the methane tank. This is the first time we’ve seen the tanks filled up together, and they did so in record time at about an hour and forty-five minutes. A Valve on S20 also produced a loud bang after a rapid decompression knocking off the Ice around the top region.
The Liebherr LR 11000 series crane was reconfigured for a longer reach and heavier lifts, and has now been raised to continue assembly work.
A methane tanker’s back brakes caught fire early one morning as it pulled up to the launch complex. Luckily a quick thinking SpaceX security agent grabbed a fire extinguisher and stopped the flames from causing any serious damage.
Absorption Columns were also delivered from Starbase to Port Canaveral for use in the new Starship launch facility.
A series of typical tests were also conducted on the Integration Tower’s various systems.
Stay tuned next week for another update.
