For centuries, the Catholic Church has held enormous influence over education, politics, family life, and even law. It has inspired charity and compassion, yet it has also engaged in censorship, forced conversions, created abusive power structures, and developed systems designed to shield wrongdoing rather than expose it.

So how should history judge an institution with such a mixed legacy? Can acts of service erase a history of crimes against humanity? Does moral authority come from scripture, or humanity itself?

What do you think? Should deeply rooted beliefs be questioned? And if you’ve changed your view on the Church, in either direction, what made you reconsider?
