How the EPA Sold You Out

Alex Jones was right — at least about Atrazine.

This controversial pesticide, widely used in U.S. agriculture, has been linked to severe endocrine disruption, particularly in amphibians. In one of the most widely cited studies, Dr. Tyrone Hayes, a biologist at UC Berkeley, found that exposure to Atrazine in frogs caused chemical castration, feminization of male frogs, and in some cases, even functional hermaphroditism, all at exposure levels deemed “safe” by the EPA.

Atrazine is a herbicide used on corn, sugarcane, and other crops, and it’s also found in our drinking water, especially in farming-heavy regions of the U.S.
It is classified as an endocrine disruptor, meaning it interferes with hormone function, which can influence everything from sexual development to fertility to neurological function.

Despite mounting peer-reviewed evidence, the EPA chose not to ban Atrazine, opting instead for monitoring programs and adjusted guidelines. Meanwhile, the European Union banned Atrazine in 2004 due to groundwater contamination concerns and its potential for long-term harm to human and animal health.

The EPA and other regulatory agencies, which are supposed to protect public health, have a long history of prioritizing corporate interests over human safety.

Through lobbying, political pressure, and industry funding, harmful chemicals continue to be approved, tolerated, or inadequately regulated, despite clear evidence of their risks.

The controversy isn’t just about frogs, it’s about how our regulatory agencies often ignore inconvenient science to protect industry interests.

The public health implications are real:
Hormonal changes

Infertility

Reproductive abnormalities

Increased risk of certain cancers

Disrupted development in children

This isn’t fringe speculation, it’s documented environmental science. And it raises serious questions about what chemicals we’re being exposed to daily, and why the system meant to protect us keeps looking the other way.
