Joy Warren from the Fluoride Free Alliance (UK) joined Dr Liz Evans to discuss the serious health and ethical issue of water fluoridation which is being aggressively pursued by the UK Government, along with other governments around the world. Joy has been campaigning against this public health measure for over 20 years, and she shared her extensive knowledge in a must-listen interview that will educate and empower you.Â
Adding fluoride to drinking water has been sold to the public for decades as a positive public health measure to reduce dental decay. However, recent studies suggest that any benefit to dental health is minimal. Despite this, millions of people in the UK and around the world have hexafluorosilicic acid (a toxic and contaminated byproduct of industry) added to their drinking water, usually without their knowledge or consent. This seriously violates medical ethics, amounting to a ‘one-size-fits-all’ forced mass-medication of the public, where individuals cannot exercise their right to medical choice or informed consent. Â
As with all medical treatments, fluoride has risks as well as benefits. As Joy explains, these risks will be significant, chronic, and cumulative over a lifetime, when people are exposed to it daily in their drinking water. The serious risks to health posed by fluoridated water include hypothyroidism, osteoporosis, dental fluorosis, and a reduction in IQ in babies and children exposed to this toxic substance in the womb and in childhood. Â
Joy outlines measures you can take to reduce your exposure and gives details of an exciting new legal case: a group legal action to challenge water fluoridation in the UK. Anyone living in a fluoridated water area, or who is under threat of fluoridation, is urged to become a claimant by signing up on the Kingfisher Justice website to add their names to the letter before action. The cost of involvement is only £20 plus VAT (or £5 plus VAT if in hardship). The more claimants that sign up, the better the chance of ending fluoridation in the UK.Â
