JANUARY IS THE WORST TIME TO SET GOALS

New Year’s resolutions are counterintuitive.

They demand discipline, restriction, and transformation at the exact point in the year when biology and environment make change most difficult. In the Northern Hemisphere, winter is a season of shorter days, colder temperatures, and lower energy which are signals to slow down, not overhaul your life.

Yet every January, people are told that failure to change is a personal flaw. That if they can’t stick to a plan, they lack willpower or discipline. The cards are stacked against you trying to make big changes during the winter.

Here’s my plan to overcome this trap:
Commit to continuous, ongoing self improvement. You don’t need a special occasion.

Avoid major changes in January. Use this time of year to look back and evaluate yourself. Then start planning. Outline your goals and the steps you need to take to get there. Begin your major actions on the spring equinox, the true start of the year.

Document your progress to hold yourself accountable and to celebrate your success.

The good news is that you don’t need to wait to change your life and you can start at any moment and this is especially true for weight loss.
Join me this January for a life masterclass where we will finally tackle your weight goals.
