I am currently in a country where free speech does not exist.
Where? The UK. A place where your social media posts can be used against you. In recent years, the UK has tightened its grip on speech, arresting people for what they post online.
They claim it’s about preventing violence or illegal activity, but let’s call it what it is: an attack on free expression. One of the most notable cases was when writer Graham Linehan was arrested for a post about the transgender community. These arrests, these laws, are always framed as being “for your safety.” But in reality, they are silencing anyone who dares to question the narrative.
And here’s the truth—what is happening in the UK is a warning to the rest of the world. In the US, we’re already seeing attempts to criminalize certain protests and censor specific conversations. We are not far behind.
That’s why it is more important than ever to keep speaking the truth. The more people who push back against a totalitarian government, the better our chances of staying free.
Keep speaking. Keep sharing. Keep standing for your right to free expression.
