Sadhguru: There is a temple with a linga known as the “Navel of the Earth” in Greece. I saw a picture of this linga many years ago and immediately recognized that it was a manipuraka chakra. People told me that this was in Delphi. I had been wanting to go there since then but it took 15 years to get there.
This linga is purely a manipuraka chakra. It was definitely consecrated by Indian Yogis about 4200 years ago. This linga used to have a mercury core. When for some reason, things went badly wrong there, the mercury dissipated. So, today there is a hole through the linga.
A manipuraka linga is mainly created for health, wellbeing and prosperity. Someone consecrated the linga for manipuraka, probably because the local king or chieftain wanted victory, prosperity and wellbeing. So, they created an instrument towards that purpose. As most temples were funded by kings, they were mostly manipuraka in nature.
The manipuraka is so powerfully established in the linga that though it has been removed from its original place and placed in a museum, and it is a bit cracked, it is still reverberating with energy after 4000 odd years. It is a fantastic consecration, whoever did it.
The science of linga-making is a huge experiential possibility and has been there for thousands of years. Various types of lingas are made for different purposes. This is not just in India, it was everywhere in the world in every culture. Because of very aggressive ways of spreading religion around the world in the last 1800 years, it is not very visible anymore. But if you look deeper into history, it was everywhere.
