UK Column interaction with supporters is invariably interesting and enjoyable. However, sometimes, individuals step forward to share knowledge that is completely unexpected and challenging. At the 2025 Sounds Beautiful festival in Dorset, Philip Mertens was one of those people.
Philip introduced himself as Belgian, and calmly announced that since UK Column had reported on matters around Family Courts, child stealing, and abuse, he wanted to share his research into the 1995 Dutroux affair.
Against the festival background of fun, music, and relaxation, Philip joined Brian Gerrish for a sobering journey into the harsh reality of serial killer and child molester Marc Dutroux.
Significantly, Philip’s analysis focused less on the crimes themselves and more on the means by which the Belgian Government, courts, and police colluded to protect child abusers in high places.
In a Western world where we are constantly assured that our governments are there to protect us and keep us safe, Philip’s revelations indicate that we should not be so sure or so easily led.
