Comet or spaceship?
According to new research by a small group of scientists, a mysterious intergalactic object could be a “hostile alien spacecraft” planned to attack our planet in the November region.
“If this hypothesis proves true, the consequences could be catastrophic for humanity,” the researchers wrote in a paper published on the preprint server arXiv on July 16, according to Southwest News Service.
According to Live Science, the interstellar object, designated 3I/ATLAS, was discovered on July 1 and was hurtling toward the sun at a speed of close to 245.000 km. Less than 24 hours later, initial observations confirmed it was an interstellar object, suggesting it could be a comet approximately 24 kilometers in diameter and larger than Manhattan.
However, the three researchers in the new study suggest it could be part of a disguised alien spying technology.
