This is why natural medicine became the enemy

Why is natural medicine so often dismissed or discredited?

Much of this stems from a pivotal moment in U.S. medical history: the Flexner Report of 1910. Funded by the Carnegie Foundation, the report was framed as an effort to “standardize” medical education, but it did far more than that.

It systematically discredited homeopathy, naturopathy, herbalism, traditional midwifery, and other holistic practices by labeling them as unscientific.

As a result, hundreds of medical schools teaching natural methods were shut down, while only those adhering to the pharmaceutical-allopathic model were granted funding, accreditation, and legitimacy.

But this transformation wasn’t only about science, it was also about industry.
At the time, John D. Rockefeller, who had amassed massive wealth from oil through Standard Oil, was strategically investing in pharmaceutical manufacturing, which used petrochemicals as a base for many synthetic drugs.

With financial influence over educational institutions and public health organizations, Rockefeller supported the Flexner reforms to help pivot the U.S. medical system toward a pharmaceutical model that aligned with his industrial interests.

In effect, natural medicine wasn’t abandoned because it lacked efficacy, it was systematically sidelined to make way for a medical monopoly built on patents, synthetic drugs, and lifelong pharmaceutical dependency.

This shift shaped modern medicine into what it is today: a model focused more on treating symptoms than addressing root causes, and one that continues to marginalize centuries-old healing systems rooted in nutrition, lifestyle, and balance.

The medical industry is only interested in profit.
